I’m Karie Thomas, founder of KT Pet Chaperone, based in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. After joining the children’s occupational therapy team within the NHS almost 20 years ago, working with children and their families in the community, I have recently taken partial retirement to pursue something I’ve always been passionate about — caring for animals and being part of life’s most joyful celebrations. With the encouragement and support of my close friend Jackie, this long held idea has grown into a business I’m incredibly proud to share.
Working in the NHS has shaped how I work — with patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of every individual I support. Those qualities come naturally to me, and they transfer beautifully to animal care.
Animals have always been at the heart of my life. I’m a passionate pet lover with a soft spot for animals of all shapes and sizes. I love the outdoors, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than being part of weddings and events where people are celebrating something truly special, surrounded by the friends and family they love most.

Practical advice to help everything run smoothly for you and your beloved companion.

Choose a Pet-Friendly Venue
Not all venues welcome animals, so confirm this early. Shropshire has some wonderful pet-friendly estates — and for outdoor events, always plan for all weathers.

Start Training Early
Practise basic commands — sit, stay, come — well in advance. Gradually introduce your dog to crowds and music so nothing feels unfamiliar on the day.

Have a Backup Plan
Even the most well-prepared pet can have an off day. Having someone dedicated to your pet — like me — means any unexpected moments are handled calmly and with care.

Create a Pet Sanctuary
Designate a quiet space with fresh water, food, and a familiar blanket or toy. A calm retreat makes all the difference between a stressed pet and a happy one.

We may collect your name and contact details; information about your pet(s) and your event; and any other details you share when making an enquiry or booking.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your data only to respond to enquiries, provide bookings and services, and comply with legal obligations. We will never sell or pass your personal information to third parties for marketing.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we process your data on the basis of contract, legitimate interests, and legal obligation where required by law.
5. How Long We Keep Your Data
Enquiry data is held for up to 12 months. Booking records may be retained for up to 6 years for legal and accounting purposes.
6. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict your data. Email us to exercise any right and we will respond within 30 days.
7. Cookies
This website does not currently use tracking cookies or analytics tools.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.
9. Complaints

Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of all services offered by KT Pet Chaperone (“we”, “us”, “Karie”) to clients (“you”, “the owner”). By making an enquiry or booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
1. Services Provided
KT Pet Chaperone offers bespoke pet chaperone services for special occasions including Wedding Day Chaperoning, Parties & Celebrations, Photo & Engagement Shoots, On-the-Day Coordination, Pre-Event Preparation, and Styling & Accessories. All services are bespoke and tailored to the individual pet and occasion, confirmed in writing prior to the event.
2. Bookings & Confirmation
A booking is not confirmed until written confirmation has been received from KT Pet Chaperone and a deposit has been paid. We reserve the right to decline a booking at our discretion. It is your responsibility to ensure all information provided at booking is accurate, including your pet’s health, temperament, vaccinations, and any special requirements.
3. Payments & Deposits
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total agreed fee is required to secure your booking date. The remaining balance is due no later than 30 days before the event date unless otherwise agreed in writing. For bookings made within 30 days of the event, full payment is required at the time of booking.
4. Travel & Mileage
KT Pet Chaperone is based in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, and is happy to travel to events within a 40-mile radius at no additional charge. For events beyond the 40-mile radius, additional mileage is charged at 45p per mile and will be confirmed in writing at booking.
5. Cancellation Policy
Cancellation by the Client
More than 28 days before the event: 50% of the total fee is payable
8 to 28 days before the event: 75% of the total fee is payable
7 days or fewer before the event: 100% of the total fee is payable
We strongly recommend arranging appropriate event or wedding insurance to cover cancellation costs.
Pet Bereavement or Veterinary Emergencies
We understand that the loss of a beloved pet or a serious veterinary issue can be devastating, and we believe no family should face financial penalties at such a difficult time. In the event that your pet passes away or is certified by a veterinary professional as unfit to attend, the standard cancellation charges above will be waived in full (less an administration charge of £50). A death certificate or signed letter from your registered vet is required. Any fees paid will be refunded in full, or the booking may be transferred to a future date at your discretion.
Cancellation by KT Pet Chaperone
In the unlikely event we need to cancel due to illness or circumstances beyond our control, we will notify you as soon as possible and provide a full refund of all fees paid.
6. Your Responsibilities
Ensuring your pet is in good health and up to date with all required vaccinations
Disclosing any known medical conditions, behavioural issues, or temperament concerns
Ensuring your pet is comfortable around people and in busy or unfamiliar environments
Providing all necessary equipment, food, medication, leads, and harnesses
Ensuring your pet wears appropriate identification at all times
Maintaining valid third-party liability insurance for your pet where required
7. Animal Welfare
The welfare of your pet is our highest priority. KT Pet Chaperone operates in full compliance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006. We reserve the right to remove your pet from the event environment if we deem it necessary for their wellbeing. In a veterinary emergency, we will seek immediate professional care and contact you without delay. You are responsible for all veterinary costs incurred.
8. Liability
KT Pet Chaperone takes all reasonable care; however, we cannot accept liability for injury, illness, loss, or death of your pet arising from pre-existing conditions or circumstances beyond our reasonable control; damage caused by your pet to property or persons; or loss of accessories or personal items. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
9. Photography & Marketing
We may photograph your pet during our services for use on our website and social media. If you do not wish your pet or event to appear in marketing materials, please notify us in writing prior to the event.
10. Confidentiality
We will treat all personal information shared with us in confidence and will not share your details with any third party without your consent, except where required by law.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact Karie directly. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within 2 working days and resolve them fairly and promptly.
12. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
